Description

Do you want the ultimate open-top track experience? The RXC Spyder combines everything Radical learned from their Le Mans LMP2 campaigns into one incredible machine. This is their flagship model, designed for drivers who want serious performance without compromising on comfort or usability.

The RXC Spyder uses the same magnificent 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 as the closed RXC, producing 654 hp and massive torque. But here’s where it gets interesting: by removing the roof, Radical saved 120 kg of weight. That means you get similar power to the closed version but with significantly better power-to-weight ratio and that pure, visceral connection to the driving experience.

The larger, more generously appointed cockpit sets the Spyder apart from other open Radicals. You get electronically adjustable mirrors, power steering, adjustable pedal box, and proper weather protection. The V6 engine sounds amazing in the open cockpit, and the lightweight chassis feels incredibly agile.

Thanks to its impressive power-to-weight ratio, the RXC Spyder rockets to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. On Silverstone GP, it matches the closed RXC’s 1:59 lap time despite being open to the elements. This is genuine prototype performance accessible to dedicated enthusiasts.

Whether you’re doing gentleman driver events, trackdays, or just want the ultimate weekend weapon, nothing else delivers this combination of performance, sophistication, and pure driving emotion as the RXC Spyder.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Spyder compare to the closed RXC?
The Spyder is 120 kg lighter but has the same 654 hp V6 engine, so it accelerates faster and feels more agile. The open cockpit makes a huge difference - you hear the engine much better and feel more connected to what the car is doing. You lose the weather protection and it's not quite as stable at very high speeds, but the driving experience is much more intense.
Why choose the Spyder over an SR10?
The Spyder has a much larger, more comfortable cockpit with better ergonomics and refinement. The V6 engine is smoother and more torquey than the SR10's turbo four-cylinder. If you want maximum comfort with your performance, the Spyder is worth the extra investment.
Can I add weather protection later?
The RXC Spyder is designed as a dedicated open car, so adding a roof isn't practical. Radical offers good weather gear and the cockpit design provides reasonable protection. If weather is a major concern, consider the closed RXC instead.
Is the open cockpit practical for track use?
More practical than you'd think. The generously sized cockpit has good wind protection, and the seats are positioned to minimize buffeting. Many owners prefer the open experience for the soundtrack and connection. For wet weather, you'll want to wait for better conditions or consider the closed RXC.
What are the main running cost differences from the closed RXC?
Very similar running costs since it uses the same V6 engine and major components. You might use slightly more fuel due to aerodynamics, but maintenance costs are essentially identical. The lighter weight actually reduces tire and brake wear compared to the closed version.
How does it handle compared to other open Radicals?
Much more stable and refined. The larger wheelbase, sophisticated suspension, and aerodynamic package make it feel planted at high speeds. It's less nervous than smaller open Radicals while still providing that pure connection. The power steering also reduces fatigue during longer sessions.
